Sanity functions like a survival meter. Most deaths come from several small mistakes stacked before a major event.
What drains sanity
- Enemy attacks and proximity effects.
- Looking at threats that punish observation.
- Tasing or attacking a normal patient.
- Cursed or corrupted evidence effects.
- Fire, ritual, and emergency pressure.
- Letting a hostile anomaly into the hospital.
How to recover
- Coffee is commonly described as a sanity recovery item.
- Chocolate is commonly described as stronger recovery, but exact values need testing.
- Some classes may change sanity gain or loss, but current values should be checked in-game.
Beginner rules
- Recover before sanity is critical.
- Do not volunteer for CCTV or dangerous events while low.
- Do not hoard all recovery items in team runs.
- Treat exact recovery numbers as unverified unless measured in the current build.
